The Barcelona Capital Náutica Foundation and the Association of Young Entrepreneurs of Catalonia (AIJEC) sign a collaboration agreement to promote the blue economy in the territory.
This agreement seeks to create a strong business ecosystem linked to the field of the blue economy and establish a joint strategy to generate new opportunities in entrepreneurship in this field.
As part of this collaboration, this year’s Young Entrepreneur Award, the awards that reward the best business initiatives carried out by entrepreneurs under 45 and organized annually by AIJEC, will award for the first time the ‘Recognition of blue entrepreneurship’.
AIJEC and Fundació Barcelona Capital Náutica will also organize activities aimed at the young business community around sustainability, sports, the blue economy and the culture of the sea, all of them designed to consolidate the blue economy among young entrepreneurs.
For Ignasi Armengol i Vila, general director of the Barcelona Capital Náutica Foundation, the nautical sector and the blue economy is a sector full of opportunities and needs and “with the signing of this agreement we want to stimulate our young entrepreneurs to turn towards sea with that look that helps us all move forward together as a society.”
For his part, Ruben Sans y Solsona, president of the AIJEC, sees this union “as an opportunity to project Barcelona and Catalonia in the world, as pioneers in the development of companies related to the blue economy.” “With the help of the Barcelona Capital Náutica Foundation we can help young entrepreneurs take advantage of the opportunities that the celebration of the Copa América in Barcelona will generate,” reflects Sans, who also remembers the shared values of business and sport.
