AIJEC held a new edition of the Experience Lunch with Carlota Pi, co-founder of Holaluz, in a session that focused on what it means to undertake entrepreneurship today with a long-term perspective.
With more than 15 years of experience, Holaluz has built a model based on connecting green energy providers with customers across the country, with a clear objective from the outset: to help make the world a better place through energy. “What can we do to improve the world?” is the question that, according to Pi, gives meaning to the project and guides strategic decisions.
During the conversation, she emphasized the importance of purpose as a guiding principle. In this regard, she shared some of the lessons learned along the way, marked by periods of expansion but also by challenges that have forced the company to adapt and redefine itself.
In this context, Pi stressed the need to maintain a long-term focus: “Speed is overrated. What matters is moving in the right direction, step by step,” she stated.
Another central theme of her talk was the role of people within organizations. “Companies are people,” she highlighted, insisting on the importance of surrounding oneself with talent, but above all with values. In this sense, she was clear: “There is a red line: don’t do anything with bad people.”
This idea also extends to governing bodies. Pi underlined the importance of having boards of directors made up of people aligned with the project and its values, warning of the impact that a bad decision in this area can have.
Beyond her business experience, the co-founder of Holaluz pointed to the need to electrify energy demand through non-polluting sources and defended the role of technology in making green energy accessible.
The event concluded with an invitation to attendees to reflect on what they can do from their own companies to contribute, even in small ways, to generating a positive impact.
From AIJEC, these types of sessions continue to establish themselves as meeting spaces where young entrepreneurs can share real experiences, learn from role models, and grow together.
